Thoughts from Atlanta ...
I’ve been ecstatic about what Ray and his colleagues have done in Israel. The Israeli-Palestinian Comedy Tour came about because Ray and Israeli comedian Charley Warady connected over the internet. (Coincidentally, Charley and I have a mutual friend and I met him on my last Israel trip.) Ray and Charley then turned that conversation – about growing up in Chicago in a neighborhood where Jews and Arabs got along – into this tour that has created so much positive feeling and positive press. (A CNN story ran yesterday.) I’ve been happy to spread the word among Comedy for Peace supporters – you folks that support creative efforts to demonstrate new ways for these warring parties to “speak”. Naturally, I believe all our work helped set the stage for this beautiful effort to grow on its own, but Ray and Charley (and Aaron Freeman and Yisrael Campbell) deserve the credit for making this happen on the ground. Check out all the press stories on the Israeli-Palestinian Comedy Tour web-site: http://www.ipcomedytour.com/. More to come. And Charley Warady’s blog at: http://israelisms.wordpress.com/ . And – of course -- Ray's personal blog ... David |
