The most activity I've had since ... David Lewis?!? By Ray Hanania

In addition to being funny, I have to be serious. Naaaay! My first entry in the C4P web site. The most activity I've had since David Lewis and I were walking through the Qalandiya Crossing and when the Israeli soldiers demanded our IDs, David said, "Don't worry. He's my prisoner." Lewis patted me down, gave me a few noodges (Yiddish for a really annoying something) and then led me through ...

My next show is in Boston ... Northeastern University ... so I've been practicing my lines with the one person who laughs at everything I say ... My four year old Abdullah ... err, Aaron. Anyway, Aaron's favorite joke? When I introduce myself. Sigh! It will be fun to get back on stage.

The last show I did was in downstate Illinois a few weeks ago. A great crowd of farmers, beer tasters, and people who generally pronounce Arab with four syllables. When they introduced me, there was a weird silence that swept through the wire screen that separated me from the Bud Light bottles. (Usually the audiences throw shoes.) Anyway, I figured, this is definitely the place where I begin my show with the pledge of allegiance (Oh, sorry folks, I mean Pledge of Allegiance), salute towards the South (not East) and then explain that I served during the Vietnam -- "wisch waaar you serve in?" -- War. By the time I got through the introduction, they just figured I was some Italian who spent a little too much time in Iraq. Lot's of laughs. All sympathetic. "Must have been knocked around in the head too much!"
